NAMIMI NIPO Arts and Crafts Online Competition

About the competition

NAMIMI NIPO (Swahili meaning for “I also exist”) free online arts and crafts competition is performed in order to find, cultivate and motivate young people to use their talents and skills in creating things that can help them grow businesses. The project is developed as continuation of similar project known as Arts and sports to keep Tanzanian kids in school implemented by FASDO on 2011 in six primary schools in Dar es Salaam. The project was well implemented in early stage however the last stages of the project were not well done due to poor timing and poor cooperation from the schools. From lessons learned in the first project, FASDO designed free online art and craft competition that cover the whole of Tanzania and involve youth both in-school and out of school. In addition to that the increase in number of Internet users in Tanzania influences the decision of developing the online competition.  Despite the technological advancement (Internet usage) the majority of youths in Tanzania are not taking the advantage of it to overcome their economic challenges.
